Another new Raspberry? - Brian Beuken - 11-15-2018

Well not quite, its a cut down version restoring the old model A brand. But still nice, only 512MB though, so a bit limiting as a game machine.

Whats much more interesting is the confirmation that the next Raspberry will indeed be a new system, I can't wait to hear about that, but I'm sure we'll find out in March 2019.

The new board does look nice and would be handy for folks looking for smaller footprint for a Maker project but the reduced memory might have an impact with performance.  However, it has the same BCM2837B0 as the 3 B+ and the same Videocore  iV GPU as the B+.  It does have a mini HDMI connection rather than the full size one on the B+ but that is understandable considering the size of the board.

The MagPi Benchmark between the Zero, 3A+ and 3B+ is interesting and shows the 3A+ performing better than the 3B+ in some instances.

There is an update to Raspbian that was announced which I assume is due to the 3 A+,

I suspect the slight variations are due to minute issues with SD or RAM speed and comms interaction taking a priority during the test, Even 2 identical 3B+'s would be unlikely to give the exact same results. A few points variation does not really show any real gain.
