Content updates almost ready
#1
4/12/25

The book launches tomorrow, so its time to get the videos and source files sorted, there may however be some delay again.. Im still getting some issues from the site when it comes to uploading large files, it seems to fail, a help request has gone to the hosting company.. Hopefully I can get it resolved and start uploading videos and chapter contents soon.

In the meantime if you have an early copy of the book, please log in, say hello and I'll update you when things are finally resolved.

Well this is annoying there's some kind of restriction on uploads to my site, so the new support videos and code zips won't go up.... also any large pages refuse to update, seems like I can only change a couple of KB of content at time.... Again chasing the hosts... no reply so far.

Annnnnnd of course, once we get the website sorted with the host, other things screw up.. One was that my access to Dreamweaver which I used to create the site was cancelled, though it took a little while to work out why.. My Subscription was tied to my work... and I quit working at the end of December.. grrr

But I forked out for a new subscription in my own name. How much!!! you're having a laugh Adobe!!! but until I find a better solution I will use it.
But then when I try to edit my videos my new mini PC turns out to not have the horsepower to do the job....oh boy. So I'm working only on the updated software, and will either wait for my videos on the main PC hard drive that is being shipped to me from Holland, or I will make new one when I get a slightly more power PC in a couple of weeks.

Again, sorry, it seems that no matter what I do, something will go wrong but I am trying to resolve things as quick as I can and of course the Forums are working and I will explain things best I can here if you post any specific issues.

Bloody hell, what a fubar situation.. The new Mini PC turned out to be a total scam, an old/slow I3 pretending to be a modern fast, I9 with the slowest ssd ever (probably a flash drive) and modified windows to say it was an I9...but CPUZ and the BIOS and indeed the actual use of it proved it was useless.. Fortunately I got a refund and they don't want the unit back, so crap as it is, it will be usfule once I install a real M2 SSD on it... but grr.. So I have to buy from somewhere a bit more expensive and reputable and therein lies another tale.

In the last 10 days or so, I've now had 3 PC orders cancelled, when chased up its been a standard, out of stock, response... but what it really boils down to is the current RAM price explosion has meant the PC's advertised are now not possible at the prices listed, and they are waiting for the prices to come down and either stalling or cancelling orders.
So I am still currently without a machine capable of putting the video clips I have in place together and people are waiting for content I can't currently provide.

But I have checked the 1st set of projects on the book for Book 2 and wll put them online tomorrow, and work on the others over the weekend. I've tested them on my current systems and all seem to work, but I need to strip them back a bit so readers get to add content, not just see finished code.. So tomorow, Photoframe, Invaders steps 1 2 and 3 and Galaxians at the weekend. Bobs day to follow...

Apologies to all for the horrible delays I'm just waiting for a meteor to hit my house to provide a fitting final touch to these unmitigated disasters of a work flow.

yeah the weekend was a bust, my wife and I had our first taste of Thailand flu, (well it was first for me), we were reduced to bedridden sneezing, coughing wrecks. But I think I am over the worst and I have now got the new PC set up and ready to rock and roll.
And the 1st thing I did was check my projects, and Visual studio updated.........yes it broke.. fortunately not a big thing but some issues with time/chrono and const conrrectness being made stricter in the latest compiler... fixes have been made, testing is scheduled
